New sounds of the Alps followed by a glamour-punk cabaret
Bold, bursting with energy, extravagantly dressed and with a dazzling array of instruments in tow, the Dakh Daughters put on a burlesque show like no other. These six artists from Ukraine, who draw inspiration from the aesthetics of cabaret, set the stage on fire with a heady mix of music, theatre, performance and literature. Rather than shy away from major political and human issues, they address them head-on, with a generous serving of humour and chutzpah.
The evening gets off to a gentle start, with a performance by Albin Brun and Patricia Draeger, two of Switzerland’s most renowned musicians. As members of different musical ensembles and groups, they play music that lies somewhere between new folk music and jazz. With their accordion, Schwyzerörgeli, accordina, soprano saxophone and brilliant musicianship, the duo creates an atmosphere that is beguiling in its simplicity and brimming with poetry.
