A medley of six amateur plays
The deadbeat manservant from a play by the Muothatal theatre association enters the Belluard stage and comes face to face with one of the Engel sisters from a comic playlet by the Plaffeien amateur dramatics company. They are joined by four other characters from assorted amateur plays. Corsin Gaudenz spent two years exploring the strange yet familiar world of local amateur theatre in Switzerland. The result is a performance that demonstrates the principle underpinning this widespread social and cultural practice. Prior to its staging in Zurich in September, the Belluard performance will be a testing ground where new stories unfold and parts of the script are left to chance. An absurd theatrical experiment that acts as a temporary museum for this living tradition.
