Performance on a model about an unknown place
This story is about a stay in Santiago Amoukalli, a remote place in the southwest of Mexico. The inhabitants there speak Náhuatl, only a little Spanish. Visitors here feel strangely foreign in their own country, while at the same time national elections are coming up. It rains a lot. This story take place in turbulent times in a country with fever and in a place, that may have never existed. The performative exhibition Santiago Amoukalli ist part of a large scale project about democracy in Mexico by Lagartijas tiradas al sol, who are known for their playful, precise and engaged work.
