Ottof

Experimental dance theatre for wise women

Slowly, eyes open and arms extend outward. One after the other, they enter, silent, stretching time until it snaps. In search of light, five ants (‘ottof” in Berber) turn darkness into energy. Holding an audience in their spell is nothing new to these traditional dancers and singers from Morocco. No matter where they are called on to perform – cabarets, weddings, museums or contemporary theatre – the stage and everything that goes with it is an inextricable part of the lives of these indefatigable punk performers. With their unique idiom that seesaws between fantasy and realism, tragedy and burlesque, timelessness and prosaicness, calm and storminess, this is precisely what they demonstrate here. In four words: women who love life!

On 25 and 26.6 Bouchra Ouizguen will run a workshop for women and girls.
