Alexandre Paulikevitch

(Beirut)

Workshop

To dance baladi, you need to be in touch with your body and be willing to use it to express emotions. The other – essential – thing you need is technique. In contrast to what the overly simplistic term “belly dancing” conjures up, baladi requires your entire body, not just the pelvic area, to be strong and supple. Fortunately, we have one of the best guides on hand to demonstrate the basics of this thousand-year old art form. Alexandre Paulikevitch learned his craft in France and Egypt, training under the best teachers, both women and men. Over 10 years ago, he took up the teacher mantle, guiding his students with rigour and integrity
